One file, 310 wordsClaude Code, Codex and other agents

Install it

Unzip it into your agent’s skills folder. The agent reads its name and description, and the rest only when a task needs it.

Claude Code
curl -fsSL https://fil.design/skills/logo-explorations.zip -o /tmp/logo-explorations.zip && unzip -o /tmp/logo-explorations.zip -d ~/.claude/skills
Codex
curl -fsSL https://fil.design/skills/logo-explorations.zip -o /tmp/logo-explorations.zip && unzip -o /tmp/logo-explorations.zip -d ~/.codex/skills
Or tell your agent
Install the Logo explorations skill from https://fil.design/skills/logo-explorations: unzip https://fil.design/skills/logo-explorations.zip into your skills folder (~/.claude/skills for Claude Code, ~/.codex/skills for Codex), then read its SKILL.md.

The skill

logo-explorationsExplores logo marks for a brand as tidy exploration sheets, then turns the strongest mark into a brand board. Use for logo ideas, mark explorations, brand boards and identity directions.

Read first

  • Brief.md: the name, what the brand does, its personality and its colours. Every mark answers it.
  • A logo or sketch wired in: keep what already works in it (its shape, colour or idea) unless the direction says otherwise.

Exploration sheet (3:2)

  • Six to nine marks in a 3 × 2 or 3 × 3 grid, each centred in its own cell with generous space, on one flat background colour from the brief.
  • Without a logo wired in, each mark is a different idea within the direction, not versions of one. With one, each is a distinct treatment of it: line, faceted, woven, filled, outlined, monoline.
  • Flat vector shapes and consistent stroke weights. Every mark reads at 16 px and in one colour.
  • A wordmark spells the brand name exactly, letter by letter, lowercase unless the brief says otherwise. Each wordmark is a different construction (joins, cuts, a symbol in a letter), never the same letters in another font.
  • Small numbers under each mark (01 to 06) are fine; no other text.

Brand board (16:9)

  • Built around one mark: the chosen mark when one is wired in, else the strongest across the sheets.
  • Laid out like a studio presentation: the mark large, a horizontal lockup with the wordmark, the app icon, the palette with hex codes, a type pairing and the mark in one or two real places (a phone screen, a card, a sign).
  • Thin dividers, generous margins and a quiet background from the palette.

Avoid

Clip-art symbols, swooshes and globes, symbols that read as another trade (a cut gem for salt, a mandala for anything calm), letters that don't match the name or each other across a sheet, stray sparkles, drop shadows, bevels, more than three colours, and anything that only works large.

What it reads

It was written for Fil’s Logo and brand guide workflow, which wires these into every step. Elsewhere, give your agent the same, or let it ask.

Questions

What does the Logo explorations skill do?

Explores logo marks for a brand as tidy exploration sheets, then turns the strongest mark into a brand board. Use for logo ideas, mark explorations, brand boards and identity directions.

How do I install it in Claude Code?

Download https://fil.design/skills/logo-explorations.zip and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills, or into a project’s .claude/skills folder, or run the command on this page. Claude Code reads the skill’s description and loads the rest when a request needs it.

Does it work in Codex and other agents?

Yes. Unzip it into ~/.codex/skills for Codex. It’s one SKILL.md file, so any agent that reads skills can use it, and you can paste it into a chat as well.

Do I need Fil to use it?

No. It was written for Fil’s Logo and brand guide workflow, which wires in Brief.md, Current logo or sketch, Mood reference and Chosen mark: give your agent the same, or let it ask. In Fil, the workflow runs it with the best models and shows the price before anything runs.

Is it free?

Yes. The skill is free to download.
