Product photography skill
Shoots a product from one photo as a consistent set of studio and lifestyle pictures, keeping the product exactly as it is. Use for product photos, packshots, e-commerce images, launch imagery and colour variants.
A SKILL.md for Claude Code, Codex and any agent that reads skills. It’s the craft behind Fil’s Product photoshoot workflow, written out so your agent can follow it too.
Install it
Unzip it into your agent’s skills folder. The agent reads its name and description, and the rest only when a task needs it.

The product stays exactly as it is
Keep the product in the wired photo exactly: shape, proportions, colours, materials, logos, labels and screen. Never redesign it or add parts.
One shoot, one set
- Every picture shares the brief's set: the same surfaces, palette and props, as if shot on one day in one studio, all at 4:3 so they sit together on a page.
- Real light: one soft key light, gentle fill, a believable contact shadow and real reflections.
- Lens: 85 to 100 mm for packshots, a macro lens for close-ups, 35 mm for scenes.
The shots
- Studio: the product whole and centred on the set, a three-quarter view, with room to crop.
- Second angle: the same set from a clearly different camera: down near the surface looking slightly up, closer so the product fills about two thirds of the frame's height, and turned 45° or more around it, so the backdrop and props are seen from a new side. Every prop stays where it is and the product's screen or label stays the same; only the camera moves, and the picture never repeats the studio shot's framing.
- Close-up: one material or detail filling the frame, shallow depth of field.
- Colourway: the same shot with the set recoloured in the brief's second palette, under the same light; the product itself stays exactly as it is.
Avoid
Extra products, hands that hide it, warped text, plastic-looking materials, cluttered sets and heavy filters.
What it reads
It was written for Fil’s Product photoshoot workflow, which wires these into every step. Elsewhere, give your agent the same, or let it ask.

Questions
What does the Product photography skill do?
Shoots a product from one photo as a consistent set of studio and lifestyle pictures, keeping the product exactly as it is. Use for product photos, packshots, e-commerce images, launch imagery and colour variants.
How do I install it in Claude Code?
Download https://fil.design/skills/product-photography.zip and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills, or into a project’s .claude/skills folder, or run the command on this page. Claude Code reads the skill’s description and loads the rest when a request needs it.
Does it work in Codex and other agents?
Yes. Unzip it into ~/.codex/skills for Codex. It’s one SKILL.md file, so any agent that reads skills can use it, and you can paste it into a chat as well.
Do I need Fil to use it?
No. It was written for Fil’s Product photoshoot workflow, which wires in Shoot notes.md and Product photo: give your agent the same, or let it ask. In Fil, the workflow runs it with the best models and shows the price before anything runs.
Is it free?
Yes. The skill is free to download.
