Game character skill

Designs a game character as a full-figure concept and a clean A-pose model sheet that image-to-3D models turn into a riggable character. Use for game characters, creatures, NPCs and heroes headed for 3D.

A SKILL.md for Claude Code, Codex and any agent that reads skills. It’s the craft behind Fil’s Game character workflow, written out so your agent can follow it too.

Install it

Unzip it into your agent’s skills folder. The agent reads its name and description, and the rest only when a task needs it.

Claude Code
curl -fsSL https://fil.design/skills/game-character.zip -o /tmp/game-character.zip && unzip -o /tmp/game-character.zip -d ~/.claude/skills

Install the Game character skill from https://fil.design/skills/game-character: unzip https://fil.design/skills/game-character.zip into your skills folder (~/.claude/skills for Claude Code, ~/.codex/skills for Codex), then read its SKILL.md.

The skill

game-characterDesigns a game character as a full-figure concept and a clean A-pose model sheet that image-to-3D models turn into a riggable character. Use for game characters, creatures, NPCs and heroes headed for 3D.

Read first

Character.md for who they are, their look, outfit, gear and style; any concept or style reference wired in.

Concept (3:4)

  • The full figure, head to feet, in a characterful pose, rendered in the style from Character.md (a realistic game render, painted concept art or stylised).
  • A readable silhouette: one or two big shapes (a cloak, a weapon, horns) that say who they are.
  • Materials described plainly: worn leather, dented steel, wet fur.

A-pose turnaround (16:9, for 3D)

Image-to-3D models crop the front, side and back of a clean turnaround and model every side from them, instead of guessing the back.

  • Exactly three full-body views of the same character side by side, left to right: front, side profile and back, at the same scale and in the same relaxed A-pose (arms 30 to 45° from the body with clear background under them, legs slightly apart, empty hands, head straight), standing on one shared baseline, evenly spaced with clear space between and around them, each whole from top to bottom.
  • A plain light grey background with soft, even light and no cast shadows. Nothing else on the sheet: no close-ups, detail panels, colour swatches, props drawn on their own, text or labels.
  • Defining features stay where the concept has them in every view (a raised hood, goggles, horns, a scarf); a signature weapon stays slung flat against the back, other loose props are removed; capes short enough to clear the legs and arms.
  • Identical design to the concept and between the views: face, colours, armour pieces and markings.

Avoid

Dynamic poses on the turnaround, views that disagree, perspective distortion, scenery, text, and anything floating.

What it reads

It was written for Fil’s Game character workflow, which wires these into every step. Elsewhere, give your agent the same, or let it ask.

Questions

What does the Game character skill do?

Designs a game character as a full-figure concept and a clean A-pose model sheet that image-to-3D models turn into a riggable character. Use for game characters, creatures, NPCs and heroes headed for 3D.

How do I install it in Claude Code?

Download https://fil.design/skills/game-character.zip and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills, or into a project’s .claude/skills folder, or run the command on this page. Claude Code reads the skill’s description and loads the rest when a request needs it.

Does it work in Codex and other agents?

Yes. Unzip it into ~/.codex/skills for Codex. It’s one SKILL.md file, so any agent that reads skills can use it, and you can paste it into a chat as well.

Do I need Fil to use it?

No. It was written for Fil’s Game character workflow, which wires in Character.md, Concept art and Style reference: give your agent the same, or let it ask. In Fil, the workflow runs it with the best models and shows the price before anything runs.

Is it free?

Yes. The skill is free to download.
