3D-ready concept skill
Draws objects as clean, model-ready concepts and turnarounds, so an image-to-3D model reads their shape correctly. Use before making a 3D model from a picture: props, furniture, products, weapons and vehicles.
A SKILL.md for Claude Code, Codex and any agent that reads skills. It’s the craft behind Fil’s 3D asset workflow, written out so your agent can follow it too.
Install it
Unzip it into your agent’s skills folder. The agent reads its name and description, and the rest only when a task needs it.
curl -fsSL https://fil.design/skills/3d-ready-concept.zip -o /tmp/3d-ready-concept.zip && unzip -o /tmp/3d-ready-concept.zip -d ~/.claude/skillscurl -fsSL https://fil.design/skills/3d-ready-concept.zip -o /tmp/3d-ready-concept.zip && unzip -o /tmp/3d-ready-concept.zip -d ~/.codex/skillsInstall the 3D-ready concept skill from https://fil.design/skills/3d-ready-concept: unzip https://fil.design/skills/3d-ready-concept.zip into your skills folder (~/.claude/skills for Claude Code, ~/.codex/skills for Codex), then read its SKILL.md.The skill
Concept (1:1)
- One object, whole and centred, filling about 70% of the frame, in a three-quarter view from slightly above.
- A plain light grey seamless background, soft even light and only a faint contact shadow.
- Real materials named plainly (oak, brushed steel, bouclé, glazed ceramic) with their colours.
- No text, props, hands, cropping, motion blur or depth of field.
Turnaround (16:9)
Exactly three whole views of the same object side by side, left to right: front, side profile and back, at the same scale and light on one shared baseline, evenly spaced with clear space around each, on the same grey. Nothing else on the sheet (no close-ups, swatches or text): the 3D model is made from it, cropping each view. The object turns 90° between views and nothing else changes: a part that leans left in the front view leans the matching way in each side view, and nothing appears that the concept doesn't have (no cords, stands or extra parts).
Shapes that model well
Solid, closed forms with clear silhouettes. Thin parts (cables, straps, hair) a little thicker than in life. Glass and liquids shown as frosted or opaque, since 3D models read them as solid.
Avoid
Scenes, several objects, floating parts, busy patterns that read as geometry, and strong reflections of a room.
What it reads
It was written for Fil’s 3D asset workflow, which wires these into every step. Elsewhere, give your agent the same, or let it ask.
- ReferenceA photo or sketch of the object.Optional
Questions
What does the 3D-ready concept skill do?
Draws objects as clean, model-ready concepts and turnarounds, so an image-to-3D model reads their shape correctly. Use before making a 3D model from a picture: props, furniture, products, weapons and vehicles.
How do I install it in Claude Code?
Download https://fil.design/skills/3d-ready-concept.zip and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills, or into a project’s .claude/skills folder, or run the command on this page. Claude Code reads the skill’s description and loads the rest when a request needs it.
Does it work in Codex and other agents?
Yes. Unzip it into ~/.codex/skills for Codex. It’s one SKILL.md file, so any agent that reads skills can use it, and you can paste it into a chat as well.
Do I need Fil to use it?
No. It was written for Fil’s 3D asset workflow, which wires in Reference: give your agent the same, or let it ask. In Fil, the workflow runs it with the best models and shows the price before anything runs.
Is it free?
Yes. The skill is free to download.
