This is the costume key art for Edda
This is the costume key art for Edda, a main character of Thornwake, a dark-fantasy action RPG about an old forest that swallowed a fallen knightly order, the Order of the Thorned Sun, whose sigil is a ring of hooked thorns around an eclipsed sun disc. She is the hero's younger sister, a hearth-mender who walks north to relight the forest's dying fires. It is the master reference a 3D character artist will model from, so every part of the costume must be clear, complete and correctly built. Use the reference image only for its rendering style, lighting, finish and level of craft: a hyper-detailed AAA game hero character rendered in real time with physically based materials. Edda's face, body, costume and colours are entirely new and described here. A full-length character render of Edda, a woman in her late twenties with a striking, warm, determined face, light freckles, ash-grey eyes and long ash-white hair in a thick side braid bound with small copper rings, standing in a three-quarter front view. Her right hand holds up a long chain from which hangs a brass lantern-censer, a cage of curved thorn-shaped bars around a living ember that glows orange; her left hand rests on her belt. Her silhouette is a hooded, cropped capelet over a long swallowtail coat. The capelet is charcoal felted wool lined in ember-orange silk, its deep hood thrown back, its edge bordered by a band of interlocking flame-and-thorn knotwork embroidered in burnished copper thread. The coat is deep oxblood leather quilted in a fine diamond pattern, with a tall wrapped collar; it closes tight over the bodice with a column of small brass toggles and opens at the hips into two long tails that fall behind her to her calves. Her waist is cinched by a wide corset belt of tooled dark leather, hung on short chains with a hearth-mender's brass tools: slim tongs, a small bellows and a round tinder reliquary pressed with the Thorned Sun. Her left arm is armoured in a long bronze vambrace engraved with flame knotwork over a sleeve of fine blackened mail; her right sleeve is soft cream linen gathered at the wrist under a fingerless glove. Fitted charcoal breeches tuck into tall boots of oxblood leather with bronze knee cops and shin plates engraved with small flames. Faint soot darkens the hems, and a few tiny embers drift up from the lantern. The scene is illuminated by a large soft key light from the upper left, the warm orange glow of the lantern from below and a cool blue rim light from behind, creating a hopeful, brave, quietly sad atmosphere, against a dark charcoal studio backdrop that falls off to black at the edges, on a dark stone floor. Framed like a long-lens 85mm shot at f/8 from chest height, so the whole figure from the top of her head to the soles of her boots is tack-sharp, with crisp micro-detail in the quilting, embroidery, bronze engraving, mail and silk, and clean, precise edges against the backdrop. Her hands are anatomically correct with five fingers each, and every strap, seam and buckle is built logically. The whole figure fits in the frame with a little space above the head and below the boots; the image shows only the character and the backdrop, in a 3:4 portrait format.
